The cottages inspire the simplicity and the wild beauty of nature. Furniture and fabrics are based on materials found in nature, such as wood, stone, wool and cotton. The interiors of mountain houes usually combine white colors with warm wood or brick and finishes such as bronze and copper. One suggestion for lighting is handmade lamps made of durable wood as raw material. The rustic lamps offer warmth and the charm of nostalgia, which is why we often find them accompanied by classic glass shades or the vintage glow of Edison lamps. The most popular finishes are aged copper or matte black.
The mid-century style refers to the period 1940-70 and the decoration that characterizes it is completely unique furniture and statement pieces often asymmetrical, amorphous giving the impression more of a sculpture rather than furniture. Visual art was important in that past time, and lighting was then bold, striking designs. These retro lamps have metallic finishes mainly of bronze. Luminous with many perimeter arms and very arched floor lamps belong to this style that emits lounge vibes. If you want to add a hat to the luminaire, opt for cylindrical fabric hats in funky bright colors.
The spaces of this style pay special attention to details. For example, chandeliers are decorated with crystals, fabrics with fringes and cabinets are closed with ornate glass. Fabrics include silk and velvet. The furniture never has matte finishes, but a glossy look. The main colors in the regency-styled spaces are dark red and purple and bright yellow, which contrast with the intense gloss of the lamps and the decoration on the walls. So if you like gold and glass, choose lamps with wonderful glossy decoration that will reflect shine on the crystals and bronze finishes.
Bohemian-style spaces emphasize on nature and include patterns and vibrant colors such as purple, red and pink. The boho chic decoration mixes special colors, accessories, fabrics and various types of furniture that do not fit together or do not belong to a specific style, e.g. a modern sofa with a vintage velvet armchair and a brightly colored statement chair. The luminaires are just as special, have many details and can be decorated with crystals, beads or fringes. Alternatively they may remind of exotic places and use motifs and materials from foreign cultures. Bohemian decor is often combined with eco-friendly material choices, so luminaires made from natural materials such as rattan, bamboo, paper and eco-friendly fabrics are also among the choices.
Industrial spaces give a cool, modern feel. The style combines new and recycled items and the end result is a mix of modern and vintage. The style is characterized by clean open spaces with cool colors such as gray, black, white and some touches of blue and green. Metal is the basic material. This style is a common choice for urban lofts that were former factories, schools or other old buildings with exposed bricks and beams on the roof. In industrial luminaires we will usually see cement, iron, wires or “naked” Edison lamps. Also, pipes can give a mechanical touch that will give the vibes of an industrial space. Preferred colors are aged bronze or raw cast iron.
We want the cottage to inspire a relaxed and carefree mood, to be comfortable and convenient. Instead of heavy fabrics, we prefer light lace and cotton. The predominant material is wood and in the color palette we see mainly white and cream. Vintage furniture and accessories give the aesthetics of the space. The main selection criteria are comfort and simplicity. The same logic prevails in the luminaires which basically we want to be functional and practical, to illuminate the space, to resist in time and to fit the vintage image of the space. The materials we prefer are chrome or stainless steel.
The seaside areas inspire us with a light, airy feeling that reminds us of summer. The color palette borrows the colors of the surrounding nature, such as the blue of the sky, the blue of the sea, the beige of the sand and the all-white. Bright shades of coral and turquoise can be added for more character. The usual materials of decoration are natural wood and glass as well as cotton and linen fabrics. For the luminaires we use similar materials, as well as shapes that refer to nautical themes. An alternative proposal is rustic single lights and sconces made of copper or iron.
Contemporary style is associated with modern but has some differences. The modern style borrows from many periods of time and creates an eclectic environment, for example a space with straight lines, simple furniture and art can be combined with plaster around the walls and windows. The contemporary one also takes elements from the minimal style, as the layout is open and the space is not loaded. The furniture has edges, vertical corners and is upholstered in simple fabrics such as wool, cotton and linen, without decoration and patterns. The colors are neutral like black and white. The luminaires are made of smooth materials such as glass, ceramic, marble, glossy nickel or stainless steel. They often have sculptural forms and futuristic shapes. Many single lights on a rail or on a round base can be the main multi-light of the space.
The term luxury is a very general term and is not related so much to aesthetics as to lifestyle. There are some basic elements that make a space look luxurious and these are the large sizes, the spaciousness and the expensive materials. The modern luxury style in decoration has nothing to do with older styles such as Victorian, Baroque or Rococo. Depending on our aesthetics, our space can be simple and strict (eg mainly white, with a lot of wood and some vintage touches) or it can be very bold with bright colors and imaginative design elements (eg special ceilings, floors and lighting). In any case, the furniture is of special design, timeless elegance and excellent quality materials.
