The “bell” lights are mostly 1light pendants made of metal in various shapes and sizes. Their applications are too many, since we can place them in almost every space. They can decorate a small bedroom or a hall but they can also compose a big lighting installation with lots of pieces for the lobby of a hotel.
The designs can be countless. As for sizes, they start from 10cm diameter and can reach 1m. Color is also important in the final result for a lighting bell. We usually choose bright colors such as red, black, brown rust, yellow and other. But it’s also very fashionable to let a bare bell stand out in the natural color of its metal, especially when it’s made of aluminum. It has a shade of silver mat with some water in it and it gives an industrial style.
One of the advantages of choosing a lighting bell for our space is that we can not limit it to a single shape but we can make a choice of two or three different bell designs so that we have variety in the final result. The same applies to color. So if we want to have a more pop effect we can paint each bell in different color. We can choose if we will place them in a round or an elongated arrangement or randomly in the space.
Having said some good and positive things about these kind of fixtures, it’s time to say a big negative they have. Lighting bells, because they are metallic, they have a significant limitation on the diffused light. All the light that comes out of the lamp is directed to the floor and the top of the room is left obscured. So if we put them high or we do not care about the general lighting of the space but we want to illuminate something specific, then we have no problem. We would say that it is an option mainly for local or atmospheric lighting and not for adequate illumination of a large space.
